Make a common web site for all the municipalities in Uttar Pradesh for better complaint redressal
The object of this suggestion is to make a centralised common web site for all the municipal bodies in Uttar Pradesh. I have not been able to locate web sites of a number of municipalities listed at URL: http://localbodies.up.nic.in/implink.htm (Website designed & hosted by "NIC", Lucknow)
I am sure is not possible for the municipal bodies to design, maintain and run their web sites.
It would be easy for the residents to obtain information about respective municipal bodies, reach the complaint lodging and complaint redressal mechanism.
For the officers and other functionaries it would be easier to know about the difficulties faced by the residents, complaint made by them and the solutions provided. The database created would help to formulate strategies to redress most frequently faced problems.
Since the expertise to design, maintain and run web site is not available with the municipal bodies it may be out sourced on the public private Bhagidari system.

The Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Web site (URL: http://gnn.in) is not working. I during May and June, 2008 tried to register complaints on web page - http://gnn.in/nagar_nigam_ghazibad_Complaint%27s_english.html. On submission of form the link http://gnn.in/Complaint_english.asp appears and it says - The website cannot display the page.
I found that the information is not updated
The Centerlised system would offer following advantages

Web sites of Aligarh, Bareilly have been copied from one site, even editing of city name was not done.

Bareilly Nagar Nigam - Reform procedure for issue of Birth Certificate
I applied to Bareilly Nagar Nigam for issue of birth certificicate of my son. As usual there was no response. Then I decided to persue this matter through my cousin who lives in Bareilly.
Save electric energy on Street Lights
A number of times it has been reported in press that the street lights are not switched off at dawn and lamps remain on during day time. The complaints made go undeard. The electric energy wasted and lost is considerable.
I have from time to time during last 22 years have made the complaints by putting great efforts and take my time out to visit Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Office and report this matter. Most of the time they just hear it in casual manner, do not acknowledge written complaint. Sometime they accept the written compliant. I have never heard from any officer of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam about the fate of my applications and representations made.
It seems there is thought blockade in their minds and lack of awareness. I have even suggested them to involve resident welfare associations and install automatic switching devises.
The amount of electricity saved by installation of automatic switching systems for street lights will pay back for it self in a few weeks. If there is shortage of funds towards the costs of installation the same can be outsourced on profit sharing basis.
